Scientific case reports play a vital role in advancing medical knowledge, offering unique insights into rare diseases, unusual patient presentations, novel treatments, and unexpected complications.
A well-structured case report enhances readability and comprehension. It should follow a logical structure: Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusion. You should refer https://www.care-statement.org/checklist
In the Introduction, provide context and rationale for reporting the case.
The Case Presentation should offer a detailed description of the patient's history, clinical presentation, diagnostic journey, and treatment.
The Discussion should analyze the case's significance, compare findings with existing literature, and propose implications for clinical practice or research.
Also author’s should declare whether they have used Artificial intelligence AI assisted technologies in production of their submitted manuscripts. You should refer https://www.icmje.org/news-and-editorials/icmje-recommendations_annotated_may23.pdf
Emphasize the clinical relevance and educational aspects of your case. Clearly state the learning objectives your case report aims to fulfill. Discuss how the case contributes to medical knowledge, whether through diagnostic challenges, treatment approaches, or mechanistic insights. Use appropriate visuals, such as images, graphs, or tables, to enhance understanding.
Demonstrate ethical sensitivity by obtaining informed consent from the patient (or guardian) to publish their case. Protect patient privacy by de-identifying information and obtaining institutional review board (IRB) approval if necessary. Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality throughout the report.
Proofread rigorously to eliminate errors.
Compare and contrast your findings with similar cases or studies, discussing similarities, differences, and potential explanations. Provide references to support your clinical decisions, diagnostic process, and treatment choices.
Engage in a peer review process to refine your case report. Solicit feedback from colleagues, mentors, or experts in the field. Incorporate their suggestions to improve clarity, accuracy, and overall quality. Be open to revisions that enhance the impact of your case report.
Remember, each case report has the potential to influence medical decision-making, educate fellow practitioners, and inspire further research in the pursuit of better patient care.
